Another tsunami benefit fundraiser was recently brought to my attention by our good friend Sli Dawg. It turns out that Sli, Brandy Faber, Shalen Stewart and Jonathan Thomas, in conjuction with the Ocean Avenue Brewery in Laguna Beach, will be holding a silent art auction on Febuary 10th starting at 6:30pm. Rumor has it that there will be tons of great performers and DJs coming to help out with the event. To help donations, a giant raffle is schedualed to take place in which all our industry friends and supporters have pitched in to make it an interesting mix of goods for all in attendance. So come on down and show your support and love for our unfortunate brothers and sisters that live on the other side of the world whom so desperately need our help.
“ Ocean Avenue Brewery serves it right ”
- Coastline Pilot-Jan 28.05

I have always placed breweries in a certain catagory of restaurants: good tasting food and a menu with all the standard American choices, but not necessarily a destination dining experience. Most of all, what comes to mind is the kind of food that goes well with beer and will stick with you through the night, should you chose it to be a long one. Ocean Avenue Brewery and Restaurant does have beer, but it is much more than a brewery, and the food stands alone... > MORE

Ocean Brewing Company on Febuary 10 will also host a fundraiser, organized by surfers that consider Sumatra their home away from home, according to Shalan Stewart, a library manager of Zuma Press Inc. The Indian Ocean quake and huge waves on December 26 killed people in 11 countries. Stewart and local artist and surfer Steven Chew promise an art auction, clothing raffle and live music."We need to help along with every other community," Stewart said.
“ 10 Year Anniversary Bash! ”
- HAPPY, January 2005

What started out as a fine, casual, mostly Italian wine and beer restaurant/bar hang out for Lagunatics 10 years ago has evolved into one of Orange County's finest and funniest nightclubs around. It has become a melting pot of friends and family, socialites and bar flies, style banditos and surf/skate and snowboard stars, artists and musicians, wall flowers and humble bees, crazy dancing characters and chillin corner cooter-pocket lurkers. Throw in a couple metro-sexuals and a few homosexuals to round out a typical night or weekend at the Ocean Ave...... *Check Photo gallery for more photos! > MORE

“ Dr. Jonathan ... ”
- HAPPY, April 2004

Dr. Jonathan of Laguna’s Ocean Avenue Brewery had his psychedelic grunge photos displayed at the prestigious William Blake Gallery in Laguna on March 7th. The photos were surreal and mostly taken of his young daughter Alegra in an almost Cobain-esque “Lithium” grunge fashion. Visit Dr. Jonathan on Tuesday’s ‘80s nights, but watch out for his free shots - they may taste good, but it might be wise to feed it to your date or somebody you like. > MORE

“ Ocean Avenue Brewery is sophisticated ... ”
- SUNSET, November 1995

This is not one of those places where the smell of malted barley hangs redolent in the air as big-screen TVs blare the latest football scores. Instead, Ocean Avenue Brewery is sophisticated and fashionable. Blond wood and terra-cotta tiles help give this place an ambience that’s far removed from a blue-collar hangout with sawdust on the floor and peanuts on the bar. > MORE
“ But first let me rave about the panini ... ”
- WESTWAYS, May 1995

The logical place to begin a review of Ocean Avenue Brewery is with the beer. But first let me rave about the panini. I like best the variation with grilled eggplant, sweet roasted red pepper, and Emmenthal cheese on its fabulous chewy bread. Then there is the grilled chicken panino mounded with mixed baby lettuces that give the sandwich snap and crunch…well, please don’t make me choose. > MORE
